An individual who contaminated treats with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys both between nine and ten.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on recently.
Yet, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was held in detention prior to a further hearing on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man conducted a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the defendant had engaged in this activity with the boys "over an extended period", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, justifiably.
"They resolved" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor explained objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson notified the authorities about his concerns.
She explained the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to their sickness, so the stepson called the authorities a second time.
She stated the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a space of five minors.
